Miss Alison Rowlands

Miss Rowlands has been a consultant ophthalmic surgeon for over 15 years. She is currently the clinical lead for ophthalmology at Arrowe Park Hospital. She is the lead for the glaucoma, neuro ophthalmology and ophthalmic stroke service at Arrowe Park Hospital.

She has an interest in cataract surgery, achieving the best possible outcome for all patients, providing patients with a choice of lenses to suit their individual requirements.

Miss Rowlands leads the glaucoma service and has adopted modern glaucoma surgical techniques, including the introduction of the latest stent treatment for glaucoma which can be carried out under local anaesthetic.

Cataract Surgery

Mr Ellabban is an experienced cataract surgeon and has performed over 8000 cataract procedure. Surgery is mostly performed under local anaesthesia for optimum patient comfort, and speed recovery. The surgery often takes around 10 minutes. Mr Ellabban is experienced in managing complex and technically challenging cataracts.

Management of retina disorders

Mr. Ellabban is an experienced retina specialist and had obtained a PhD from the word renown Kyoto University on the management of macular diseases. He has a special interest in management of retinal disease using intravitreal injection according to the recent local and international guidelines. He offers treatment for the following conditions:

  • Diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular oedema

  • Intra-vitreal injection treatment
  • Central serous chorioretinopathy

Retinal Surgery

Mr. Ellabban provides state-of-the-art suture-less retinal surgery for a range of retinal disorders. Most procedures are performed under local anaesthetic as a day-case surgery. The surgery is often performed without sutures for greater patient comfort and speedy recovery. He provides surgery for a wide range of disorders including:

Mr. Ellabban dedicates his career to patient care, but he also has a special interest in research.
